To implement the search function which is purely client side, I used to have a search index with trigrams. However I realized that at my scale, a linear search is just fast enough (< 1ms), and it is not much data to transfer (3 MiB uncompressed for all articles, Github pages applies gzip compression automatically with a 2-10x compression ratio).
